Award-winning travel operator’s Wicked giveaway to a deserving school
WST Travel, an award-winning school tour operator, have launched a spell-binding competition that will see one lucky class win a free school trip to London’s West End.
Recently crowned Best School Tour Operator at the School Travel Awards 2016/2017, WST Travel have seen plenty of success over recent months, but are now focusing on giving something back. The educational travel company, arranging school tours to destinations around the world, has launched an exciting competition that will see worthy students win an unforgettable school trip to London’s West End.
Aptly named ‘Everyone Deserves the Chance to Travel’, the competition will be giving away a school trip to London with tickets to see Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, including travel and a two-course meal for the full group. With one day to see the bright lights of London and enjoy the untold story of the Witches of Oz, this trip is a great way to enhance studies into drama and performing arts, as well as making an exhilarating enrichment trip for hard-working students.
The competition, the first of its kind for the school travel operator, will be taking place online, where teachers simply need to submit a short entry explaining why their class deserves to win, with an accompanying image. A shortlist will be announced, and then it’ll be down to the public to vote for who they think is the most deserving winner.
Nici Smith, WST’s Specialist Travel Consultant in English, Drama and Performing Arts, explains:
“Just like Wicked’s Elphaba believes ‘everyone deserves the chance to fly’, at WST we believe everyone deserves the chance to travel. Whilst we are lucky enough to organise school trips with many amazing teachers and school groups, we understand that with many school budgets being cut and parents understandably tightening their purse strings, not everyone gets to go on a school trip. It is very important to us that these people are not forgotten about!”
Entries will open on the 17th January 2017, where teachers will have until 12TH February at 11.59pm to enter on WST Travel’s online competition page. The winning group will receive up to 40 tickets to see Wicked for students, and five tickets for teachers. The competition is open for school groups in years 7-10, and offers an exciting opportunity to explore one of the country’s most vibrant cultural hotspots.
Nici continues: “Not only can school trips significantly enhance students’ learning, but they help build confidence and social skills that a classroom just can’t offer. It’s also about broadening their horizons – and what better way to do it than to see Elphaba and her world of Oz onstage?”
