Giving young people Theatre Insights with the National Theatre of Scotland

National Theatre of Scotland (NTS) will be opening its doors to secondary school pupils and their teachers this autumn by offering two new opportunities to encourage young people to explore the possibility of a career within the creative industries.

From marketing to producing, finance to costume, the NTS bespoke Theatre Insights sessions are an opportunity for pupils to delve into the less well-known areas of theatre, to experience a taste of the work involved in those roles and see it as a viable career option.

Hosted by their production team and audience and media team, this morning session will give pupils a hands on, practical insight into the workings behind both departments.

From how to work a lighting board to creating a cue sheet, their technical production team will guide you through a taster of the role they play in making theatre happen. Meanwhile, the audience and media team will share the secrets of creating eye-catching content for their website and how to build an amazing media campaign for their shows.

Pupils will work with each department for an hour, with a short break in between, before having the opportunity to ask any burning questions.

Look out for future Theatre Insights dates which will be hosted by different departments.

NTS are also able to offer a limited number of condensed versions of our Theatre Insights sessions in your school, opening the opportunity to those out-with the central belt.
